10 Best Hobbies That Keep Me Going in My 20s
And Help Me Grow 1% Every Single Day

Your 20s can feel like a whirlwind. One moment you’re attending your friend’s engagement party, and the next, you’re just… working, sleeping, and wondering what happened to all your free time.
In the middle of that chaos, I realised I needed something that was just mine not tied to a career or relationship. I craved something that made me feel light, creative, and connected to who I really am.
That’s when I began building a list of the best hobbies little things that spark joy, bring calm, and help me grow just 1% every day.
Here are 10 hobbies to explore in your 20s that are helping me stay grounded. Maybe they’ll inspire you to start your own list too.
1. Dancing: For That Inner Child Who Just Wants to Move
I always believed I couldn’t dance. My body felt stiff, and I’d feel awkward even trying. But every time I’d scroll through YouTube Shorts and see someone grooving beautifully, a little part of me whispered, “I wish I could do that.”
So in July 2025, I finally enrolled in a dance class and it’s been a life-changing decision.
Now, dancing is one of the best hobbies that fills me with joy, movement, and freedom. It’s silly, sweaty, and pure fun especially when I dance alone in my room and just let go.

2. Playing Sports: Younger Me Wouldn’t Believe This
As a child, I avoided sports. I was overweight, unconfident, and convinced I’d never be able to run or play without feeling out of place.
But 2025 Ishika? She’s tried kickboxing, joined a dance class, played pickleball, and even ran a marathon.
These aren’t just hobbies to develop in your 20s they’re proof that you can start anytime, and still amaze yourself.
3. Planning Outfits: My Everyday Mood Booster
One of my forever joys? Planning outfits.
Whether it’s for a day at the office, a café-hopping Sunday, or even my dream trip to Japan putting looks together makes me feel creative and confident.
Especially during the festive season, I go all out Pinterest boards, vision boards, and matching every outfit with the mood of the occasion.
This might sound small, but it’s truly one of the things that keep me going when life feels routine.

4. Walking: My Daily Meditation Best Hobby
I started walking regularly since my weight loss journey and never stopped.
Exploring new lanes, observing buildings, reading quirky signboards, and admiring walls (yes, walls!) it’s become my way of meditating while moving.
This might just be the most underrated of the best hobbies out there. Walking clears my mind, sparks new ideas, and helps me feel deeply present.
5. DIY Kits: The Joy of Creating Something with Your Hands
Last year, I bought a candle making kit from Hamleys and spent hours making my own candles. That moment of joy? Unmatched.
Spending adult money on childlike joys is my favorite form of self-care.
Whether it’s painting, making candles, or mini clay kits DIYs are the kind of hobbies in your 20s that keep your hands busy and your heart full.
Also, last year I received a beautiful candle as one of my Rakshabandhan gifts, and it made me so happy. It wasn’t just a gift it was a reminder of how much I love little things that smell good, feel cozy, and light up a space (literally and emotionally).
6. Driving: Slowly but Surely Getting There
I love the idea of driving, even though I’m still building my confidence.
Right now, I mostly drive with my dad sitting beside me, but by the end of 2025, I want to confidently take the car out alone.
Driving makes me feel responsible and a little grown-up. It’s not just about the destination it’s about becoming the person who can get herself there.

7. Cooking: But Only When It’s a Creative Adventure
Cooking is therapy for me but only when it’s not the “daily roti sabzi” kind.
I love experimenting like i made vada pav tacos and ragi choco lava cake. It makes me feel like I’m crafting something beautiful from scratch.
If you’re looking for hobbies to develop in your 20s, cooking something fun every weekend is a great start.
Also, I genuinely love exploring different cuisines and cafés. Some of my recent favs include Paul Café in Lower Parel, Poie & Poa, and Onrique in Bandra. Every time I try something new, I come back home inspired to recreate it in my own way.
8. Watching YouTube: My Ultimate Digital Comfort
YouTube is my chill zone. I love YouTube so much that i made a blog on “Best Youtubers to watch in India“
From fashion fails to deep podcasts, closet makeovers, and cooking videos it’s where I go to relax, laugh, and learn.
It’s one of those things that keep me going, especially after long, overstimulating workdays.
9. Hanuman Chalisa: Connecting With Spirituality
Recently, I started listening to the Hanuman Chalisa and reciting Bajrang Baan after watching a video of a girl who did it for 40 days and spoke about how it changed her energy.
Since then, I’ve been doing it consistently for the past 15–20 days, and the peace it brings is indescribable.
It’s become a personal ritual and a beautiful way to start or end my day.
And honestly, I had a beautiful spiritual experience that made me genuinely believe in God. It felt like a moment of clarity the kind that doesn’t need explanation, just presence. This habit has quietly become one of the most powerful things that keep me going.
10. Scrolling Through Shopping Apps: Guilty Pleasure, Not Guilty About It
Let me confess: I love scrolling through shopping apps.
I don’t always buy but I love seeing what brands are doing, what’s trending, and how Indian labels are growing.
I’m not into makeup, but give me cute clothes, essential fashion jewelry, a solid pair of shoes like New Balance 610T, and a reason to travel and I’m happy.
