Japan Trip Letter: A Letter to Myself Before My Japan Trip

letter to myself before japan trip

A few weeks ago, as I was preparing for my dream trip to Japan, I wrote a letter to myself. It was filled with excitement, reflection, and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for how far I’ve come. I wanted to take a moment to share this letter with you all — it serves as a reminder that no matter where life takes us, the journey is just as important as the destination. Here’s my heartfelt message to myself before embarking on one of the most anticipated trips of my life.

My Letter:

Hi my pretty lady,

Firstly, I still can’t believe you turned 24. And what a beautiful birthday gift you gave yourself — within a month, you’re flying to your dream country — Japan. Maybe there’s a little sadness too, because Maa and Papa aren’t coming this time. But I know somewhere deep inside, you’re feeling a quiet “wow.” You’re becoming the independent girl you always wanted to be.

You’ve learned how to navigate a new world — visa docs, smart planning, tiny details — all by yourself. And that’s a big deal.

I want you to embrace every tiny moment with open arms. Relive your childhood dreams and bucket list — going to Japan and seeing those houses you saw in Doraemon. You’ve even made a list of your Japan Shopping Guide, with every brand and item you want to try. Bring home a small Doraemon gadget too — as a secret gift for that 7-year-old version of yourself

Drink matcha visit Don Quijote. Use that crazy high-tech washroom 1,00,000 times. Smile like a child when you see cherry blossoms and streets full of vending machines.

You used to think you hated traveling. Maybe it wasn’t “hate” — maybe you just hadn’t met a place that felt like a dream yet. Now you’re growing. You’re blooming out of your fears.

You don’t have to change yourself — you are beautiful even in your modest zone. Wearing what you love is your quiet form of self-respect. You’re not dressing for the world. You’re dressing for the soft girl inside you who deserves to feel safe, proud, and pretty.

Trust your heart. Get whatever souvenir, memory, or feeling your soul says yes to — without guilt.

No matter where you are, your true home is inside you.

Love you, My forever girl. Come home fast. I will be waiting for you with open arms and a proud heart. I am so, so proud of you.
